A Rock Painters Life ... My Public Journal

Not always in the studio

This was a memorable day painting with my plein air art friends and my son.

Painting leaves

Here is an example of simple steps to painting leaves.
This was posted on Facebook from a fellow artist. It pretty much spells out the process, though, when I paint leaves and greenery in large, it is not that graphic. I concentrate on the areas at large, the shapes, values, highlights, and textures where needed. The graph is a nice reminder of the primary steps towards the larger picture.

Applewood Arts Show

Currently, I am creating a wealth of new rock paintings! Come see them before anyone else at my next show at the Applewood Arts show on Now.16-17! On   I-25 at Budweiser Event center in Loveland, CO. Over 120 artisans will be showing their holiday arts and crafts.

"Ram Horns" is a glimpse into what you'll see at the show.

"Falcon" was painted on back of a guitarone for someone fixing up the instrument to cover up a sealed hole.

I volunteered to run the gallery at Lincoln Gallery the other day during change over. I took down all the hanging art and hung the incoming. What an experience into the life of a gallery owner I got!
